The Epilepsy Shield Project
Did you know that a neurological disorder known as epilepsy affects over 3 million people in America? Despite how many people are affected by epilepsy, the epilepsy community still needs better support, research, funding, and treatment. To highlight the severity of epilepsy, I've included some helpful facts and artwork from Chris Arceneaux's blog below. Please share this information and help us promote epilepsy awareness around the world!
According to Chris Arceneaux's the Epilepsy Shield Project blog, Marie Alegria states that "Muscular Dystrophy had a telethon and Breast Cancer awareness products are in most stores while Epilepsy affects more people than Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dstrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Cystic Fibrosis combined. Even though Epilepsy causes more deaths than Breast Cancer, Prescription Overdoses, Skin Cancer, or Drunk Driving accidents every year, with a world wide average of 2 deaths per minute there is more media coverage of most of those than there is for Epilepsy, why?"
